Borussia’s English week – and the last game of the first half of the season.
After losing 3-2 against Bayer Leverkusen last Sunday (22 January 2023), Borussia Mönchengladbach will play their first away match in the 2023 Bundesliga on Wednesday (25 January, 8:30 pm) at Augsburg.
The FCA’s league duel is also the last game of the first half of the season. Can Borussia end this with a positive result? Or will the next disappointment await the team coached by Daniel Varkey (46) in Vogerstadt?

Tuesday 24 January
7:34 PM: Which Borussia squad will Farc send onto the field for the Bundesliga duel on Wednesday night in Augsburg? The German news agency (dpa) bets on the formation of this foal: Omlin – Scully, Itacura, Elvedi, Pencebini – Weigel, Kone – Hoffmann, Kramer, Bli – Thuram.
6:21 PM: Is this the formation of Augsburg against Gladbach? Gikiewicz – Gumny, Gouweleeuw, Uduokhai, Pedersen – Engels, Rexhbecaj – Meyer, Demirovich – Belgo, Berisha.
2:31 PM: FC Augsburg will have to release attacking players Rubén Vargas (24) and Irvin Cardona (25) in the next few weeks. Swiss Vargas suffered a tear in the membrane between the tibia and fibula. Cardona had to be stitched up and he still had a bad foot. The Bundesliga club expects a break of two to three weeks for both players.
12:35 PM: At the press conference, Maassen appeared aggressive before a “good job” in Augsburg’s home game against Gladbach: “We showed against Dortmund that we can do very well against such good teams.” Maassen praised Borussia as “a very strong team”.
12:29 PM: While Borussia are hopeful of Thuram’s job, FCA is clear the regular striker is available again. Marjem Brisha (24) missed last Sunday’s match due to a yellow card suspension. Augsburg coach Enrico Maassen (38) confirmed at the press conference on Tuesday (24 January) that Berisha will return to the team.
Monday 23 January
2:31 PM: This ends the pre-match press conference Augsburg.
2.30pm: Are players like Noss, Fraulo or Müsel still on loan? Farc: “With Oscar Fraulo it may be too early to consider a loan”. Conversations are planned with the other players, but the solutions need to make sense for everyone involved.
2:29 PM: With the exception of the suspended Stindl, the entire team is currently available to Farke.
2:27 PM: “Sometimes you have to work it out when it comes to sports,” says Farke of the colts’ economic situation and summer transfers. “But I’d rather have a club that works very hard.”
